Take the World Stroke Day Pledge to End Stroke

World Stroke Day - October 29th

Take the World Stroke Day Pledge to End Stroke

  • I will share my favorite F.A.S.T. song with my family and friends, specifically in my social media networks (use hashtag #SingFast and #WorldStrokeDay) on World Stroke Day, October 29th. This will allow me to teach everyone I can, how to recognize the warning signs of a stroke – Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 9-1-1.

  • Take a stand for stroke by tagging your favorite musical group, artist, band and request them to share one of our F.A.S.T. songs or sing/perform the song  using the F.A.S.T. lyrics in effort to teach the warning signs of stroke to everyone.

  • Visit AHA/ASA 2015 World Stroke Day webpage and discover more ways you can get involved and help put an end to stroke.

  • Share the Stroke in Latin America infographic in effort to reduce the burden of stroke in Latin American countries. Learn what else you can do by visiting StrokeAssociation.org/LaStroke

  • Tell Congress that stroke survivors on Medicare deserve better. If Congress does not act before next spring, stroke patients on Medicare will face limits on the outpatient therapy needed to regain vital skills, like walking and talking. The typical Medicare beneficiary has a $1,900 therapy cap. On average, that amounts to a single evaluation and just 19 outpatient therapy sessions. However, stroke survivors often need 3-5 therapy sessions a week, which means they’d reach the caps in less than two months. We must do better for these survivors! Tell Congress to remove this harmful cap on stroke patients once-and-for-all!
