Pili Montilla has a Positive Message

Pili Montilla

As a television host in both Spanish and English-speaking markets, Pili Montilla seems to live life on Hollywood’s fast track. She has hosted some heavy-hitters for her Spanish-language interviews including celebrities such as Sofía Vergara, Rita Moreno, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Pit Bull, Carlos Santana and Luis Guzmán. The former host of the Emmy award-winning show Té Para Tres Con Pili Montilla gave her audience a look inside the lives of up and coming Latin musicians, sharing their stories and their music. She has also walked many red carpets interviewing celebrities(link opens in new window) for English-language audiences.

When it comes to being a social media influencer for the American Heart Association (AHA), however, Pili keeps it low-key and simple. “I believe that leading a healthy life means that you take care of the whole person,” Pili says.

Her interest in sharing heart-healthy messages comes from her experience watching her father suffer from heart disease. A diabetic, Cesar Montilla suffered a stroke three years ago that left him with permanent weakness on his left side.

Her “consider the whole person” take on being healthy reflects the message in the AHA’s Healthy For Good movement. Healthy For Good inspires people to create lasting changes in their health, one small step at a time. The initiative recommends four pillars for sustaining a healthy lifestyle:

  • Eat Smart – Give your body the nutrient-dense fuel it needs.
  • Add Color– Include fruits and vegetables at every meal and snack.
  • Move More – Find forms of exercise you like and will stick with – start with 150 minutes per week.
  • Be Well – Real health includes getting enough sleep, managing stress, connecting socially and more.

Not only does Pili incorporate the Heathy For Good tenets in her own life, she also shares them with her followers on social media. “I take my role as a public figure seriously. I have a responsibility to share a positive message. People are listening,” she says. The AHA hopes that Pili’s health-driven messages influence her social media fans, as she has over 135,000 followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
