American Heart Association and Aramark join forces to improve diet, health of millions. Landmark initiative to impact 10 billion meals.

The goal of the breakthrough initiative between the American Heart Association, the nation’s largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, and Aramark, the largest U.S.-based food services provider is to empower Americans to make better food choices.

Healthy for Life® 20 by 20, introduces industry leading menu commitments by reducing calories, saturated fat and sodium levels 20 percent, and increasing fruits, vegetables and whole grains 20 percent. Changes will impact more than

2 billion meals that Aramark serves annually at thousands of schools and universities, businesses, hospitals, sports and entertainment venues, parks and other destinations, with an expected impact of 10 billion meals by 2020.

Through this initiative, we are breaking new ground, impacting the food environment, engaging consumers and improving the health and well-being of employees and families. The community engagement program is inspiring families in underserved communities to make healthy food choices part of their everyday lives. So far we have engaged nearly 300 community organizations in 50 cities across the U.S. The nutrition and cooking education experiences help families learn how to choose and prepare the healthy food they need. Through open dialogue with these community organizations we continue to evaluate and refine each element of the program. Access the educational experiences and additional available resources.
